Since the very first, stepUP has been a volunteer and community based organisation. Starting in Ryll Burgin's lounge room with just 4 other people, stepUP has now made a difference to thousands of teens and hundreds of Coaches. Over that time, dedicated people, called Foundation Members, have put in their time and effort, their sense of humour and fun, commitment, their contacts and much more, including for some, their financial support, all to have stepUP happen and make a difference to people they mostly don't know and will never meet! We thank each and every Foundation Member ever!
Each stepUP Event requires a local team of about 20 to 30 Volunteers who contribute to stepUP in various ways and make the event happen in your home town. stepUP Foundation Member's are a group of like-minded people who stand for teenagers as our future leaders, realising their own potential and being armed to do something about it. stepUP provides an alternate view of the world that shows and actually demonstrates people living lives they love of success, prosperity and happiness that might seem unimaginable for these teens today. As an organisation we are fully committed to inspiring teenagers to see and become truly excited by the possibilities for their own lives. As a Foundation Member, you have to be keen to make that kind of difference.
Foundation Members, those people that organise the events in each city and coordinate the efforts of the Foundation internationally, are all volunteers. These people work on stepUP over and above their normal work and lives. They contribute ideas, passion, enthusiasm, spirit and heart and they have a great time doing it. In the process, they also produce truly extraordinary results by virtue of what they commit to deliver to Teens – to give you an example, stepUP 2002 and the Foundation itself was established in just 13 weeks from start to finish.
Teams usually meet weekly or fortnightly for discussion, ideas, and brainstorming, to determine next steps and delegate action items for about 2 hours.
For many, it is an incredibly rewarding and sometimes life changing experience. Life changing because stepUP Foundation is out to create expanded results for everyone – the teens, the organisers and their local communities. Since the very start Foundation Members often found themselves achieving things they would otherwise have never thought possible, even advancing their careers as a direct consequence of their involvement.
